PBS announced Wednesday that Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor in chief of The Atlantic, would be the next moderator of “Washington Week,” the Friday evening public affairs show that is a staple among policymakers in the nation’s capital. The Atlantic will co-produce the show, which will be renamed “Washington Week With The Atlantic.” The magazine will cover some of the costs and help to sell sponsorships. Mr. Goldberg, who has been at The Atlantic for more than a decade — its former owner, David Bradley, recruited him in 2007 with a team of ponies — said he believed there were still enough viewers who cared about in-depth analysis of consequential issues to make the show a success. “The good thing is, there’s an awful lot of Americans, and I don’t need all of them to come here,” Mr. Goldberg said. “We just need five or 10 million.”

The stop-motion musical reimagines the classic tale through the unique lens of filmmaker Guillermo del Toro. How to watch 'Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio'You can watch "Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio" at home exclusively on Netflix. Is 'Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio' worth watching? "Guillermo del Toro's "Pinocchio" has received critical acclaim. What is 'Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio' based on?
CNN —The mere title “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio” announces that this stop-motion animated movie reflects the keen eye and visual style of the directing auteur, with a healthy dose of revisionism and reimagining baked into that. Yet despite its beauty, several of those narrative touches don’t fully work, leaving behind a movie that’s aesthetically lovely but narratively uneven. Perhaps foremost, del Toro makes the ill-advised decision to incorporate songs into the story, although he keeps interrupting them, which might speak to a certain lack of conviction about that particular aspect. It’s around that point where del Toro (who shares directing credit with animator Mark Gustafson) appears determined to connect this “Pinocchio” to larger and more ambitious themes. “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio” premieres December 9 on Netflix.

That structure is designed to address issues such as a trust deficit between the public and the press, and some readers' inability to distinguish between facts and analysis, said Semafor Executive Editor Gina Chua in an interview Monday. That funding will take Semafor to the end of 2023 and into 2024, according to chief executive officer Justin Smith. At launch, Semafor said that 75% of its revenue will come from advertising and 25% from event sponsorships. The company has created "Semaform," a way to separate news and opinion in articles. Semafor, the hotly anticipated media startup that grabbed industry attention before it even launched, is finally here. Led by former Bloomberg Media CEO Justin Smith and former New York Times media columnist and BuzzFeed News editor-in-chief Ben Smith, the outlet began publishing Tuesday morning with the lofty ambition of "solving certain significant news consumer frustrations," Justin Smith told Insider. "We have a long runway through 2023 and moving into 2024 on a revenue front and a cost front," Justin Smith said. Overall, the target readership is "very much the news omnivore" and people who are "opinion leaders" in business, finance, and tech, Justin Smith said.
